Salsa Sufra Earrings
$310.00
Description
In Sana’a, Yemen, the yellow chain was sewn onto clothing to decorate and offer a quiet protection, placed near parts of the body thought to be spiritually vulnerable. It appeared on the gargush headdress and the Antari dress, worn by Jewish girls and women both on special occasions and in daily life.
These earrings are made using that same traditional element. Each link is shaped and formed by hand, following the old Yemenite methods that gave the original chains their soft movement and gentle shine. At the bottom hang two namnam dangles, believed to guard with their delicate sound and bring a sense of blessing. This is an element our grandmothers once wore, now reimagined as earrings, carrying their story forward.
Handcrafted in traditional Yemenite filigree and granulation.
