Zahara Stud Earrings

Zahara are small floral appliqués in traditional Yemenite jewelry, made from silver granules. In these stud earrings, two patterns are used: Masbu’a, a seven-part floral form, and Matsu’a, a diamond-shaped motif composed of nine granules.

These appliqués appear throughout Yemenite jewelry. Beyond their decorative role, they functioned as structural elements, reinforcing the piece, securing twisted silver wires, and stabilizing the borders of necklaces. They are made using the traditional granulation technique known as Zir’a, with each granule shaped, placed, and soldered individually.

This work seeks to preserve these elements through a renewed approach, giving attention even to the smallest appliqués in Yemenite jewelry and allowing them to stand on their own.

Handcrafted in traditional Yemenite filigree and granulation, made from sterling silver 925.
